Your Value as a Highly Experienced Professional

In my work as a Career Transition Consultant, I work with many candidates who have recently been laid off and feel disadvantaged in their job search because of their age.

Is this something that you feel concerned about?

I’d love to highlight the immense value you bring as a highly experienced professional, which can be showcased on your résumé and LinkedIn profile.

Experienced candidates offer:

  • Deep Industry Knowledge

  • An Established Network

  • Leadership and Stability

  • Problem-Solving Skills

  • Risk and Change Management Experience

  • High-Level Negotiation Skills

  • Mentorship and Training Abilities

(Thanks to Marni Gordon for sharing this great list! Check out the full article here: https://tinyurl.com/4mczu8uf)

What stands out to me the most from this list is that experienced professionals can provide historical perspective for better decision-making, offer a stabilizing presence from living through past ups and downs, and mentor younger employees. Possessing these qualities would make someone an exceptional hire!

And yet….

Ageism is a real thing. (Stay tuned for tips on how to mitigate the risk of ageism in your job search.)

As an older professional, what other qualities do you bring to the table? And if you work with older professionals, what additional positive qualities have you seen them bring to the workforce?
